Bikini Duck

So have you all met Mabel, my bathtub friend? As you can see her fashion statement is BOLD, but I adore her because she keeps me from hurting myself as I relentlessly attempt to stand. I make mom and pop nervous. This is just the beginning!!!!

A Day in Marin

A glorious autumn Sunday like this in Marin just beckoned us to hike. So off we went to Fairfax with Sophia. As a Marin girl, Sophia seems to already love the outdoors. Will she want to do the AT like her father?

Just So Happy!!!

Sophia is happiest observing people and exploring various environments.

Incline Village, Lake Tahoe

Our summer travels ended with an impromptu visit to Incline Village, where our friends have a home. Our first day up there, we went to the beach. The water was quite frigid, but it was a spectacular day.

Local Fauna of Mexico

As we sat down for lunch, a butterfly flew into the ceiling fan above us. Its wing was nicked so it settled on Bill's hand. Sophia was intrigued by the beautiful critter. The butterfly survived the fan and Sophia.

View from Casa Sueno Tropical

Welcome to Conchas Chinas, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Our home away from home was nestled in the steep hillside of the jungle while staring out to the breathtaking view of Bahia de Banderas. It about 10 minutes south of the center of Puerto Vallarta, along the coast of Bahia de Banderas on the Pacific Ocean.

While we were there, a tropical storm hovered the area, stifling the days with heat and humidity hot and humidity and the nights with a spectacle of lights and thunder.

Villa Tropical, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

For Sophia, each day was greeted with a bottle and a dip in the infinity pool and each day ended with dip and a bottle. Isn't life grand!

Hangin with Sam and Sarah

Cousins Sam and Sarah were great with Sophia. They took a moment to relax on Granny's dock and play peekaboo and high five.

Paddling with Sarah

During our week in Cooperstown, the weather was not very cooperative. Sarah and I did manage to take advantage of Otsego Lake by taking Grandpa Tom's double Kayak out for a paddle or two.

High-Five

As Sophia hangs out on the dock with Granny and cousin Sam, she gets a lesson on giving high fives.

Cousins in New York

Sophia with Megan, Jessica and Kailey. Kailey's very lucky to have older sisters because she gets much love. It's also great for my cousin Grace, who gets an extra two pairs of hands!

Sophia and Kailey

While in New York, Sophia and I had the opportunity to meet Kailey, her third cousin. They are approximately ten days apart (Kailey born in January 2008). It was wonderful to my cousin Grace's family. Many, many years have passed since we've seen each other. Marriage, kids, a new decade!

Four Generations

Sophia's second visit with her great grandmother was easier than the first. She was even cooperative as we took photos.

Pinwheel with Friends

Sophia has known these babies since she was approximately six weeks old. We took this opportunity to capture them all. This may be the last pinwheel group shot since they are all fabulous movers and explorers.

Dress Up in the Morning

Early mornings and interrupted nights of sleep are all worth it when Sophia bestows us with a smile.

I Need a Drink!

Our impatient, little Sophia needs a drink to wash down the rice cereal. Her next goal will be to learn how to tilt the sippy cup.

Playing the Bongos

Sophia is mastering the art of banging a.k.a playing the bongos.

Dim Sum

We had brunch at Ton Kiang and Sophia and Alexander have discovered each other. The food was really good, but the highlight of the morning was watching the two kids interact with one another.

Baek-il

The hundred-day mark is celebrated with a party called a baek-il. In the past, it was common for babies in Korea to die in infancy. So, no one outside of the immediate family circle is supposed to see a newborn for 100 days.

Sophia's 100 day was marked with a small celebration and an enormous rice cake.
